The ribs are approx 12 X3/4” oak which are steamed until they are supple. They are placed across the boat at the appropriate place and then bent down to fit. They are eased into position using the toe or heel of a foot then pushed and pulled so as to lie flat against the fitted strakes. The ribs are then nailed or clamped temporarily until they take up the required set. It looks more complex than it is….
