I have been coming to Spiddal for the last 16 years, have seen many changes over the years, but still a fantastic place, with great people and great craic.

See you on the 27 August, cannot wait to get that first pint in Hughes bar.

Cheers

Caw, caw, caw. Missed me??? Probably not I expect but then it has been a busy summer – if that is what we can call it. I have been out and about, on your behalf, of course and have so much to tell you that I have forgotten most of it already. Small brain you understand so can only recaw a little. Anyway I must tell you… did you know that who is jenny, who ever she is – and I know but can keep a secret (well sort of) – won a ‘gold’ medal last weekend? I saw one of my cousins Magpie (Snag breac – is’nt that a posh name? I guess he is rather a posh fellow to boot) had an eye on it and says that it probably not real gold or the Leprehauns would have had it – unless they thought that somebody might have run after them and caught them! Must ask – perhaps Glasóg shraide will know, she lives out that way.

Speaking of Glasóg – has anyone seen or heard of Spiddal Hound?? In fact has anyone heard from anyone at all? Humans are allowed on this site, I think – must ask AN Glór (thinks, she is A Jenny, is that a common name???) Isn’t there room for discussion about Lennimanmaisbonnewroad or even the eco no me??? Come on, get in there!!!

Did you notice that my friends the swallows (Fáinleog and Gabhlán gaoithe) left for Africa yesterday? Hundreds of them all lined up on the wires for their final instructions before leaving via Clare. A safe journey fellows and thank you for brightening up our summer. As they might say over the water ‘Haste ye back!’

Well that has emptied my memory for now – off to find something else to fill it – or may be down to Tex’co to see what there might be to eat. Yes that is a much better idea. Bye.
Guess I will be banished to mionsceala again shoirtly!! wherever that is...
Before I go, I heard that there was(were? no 'are') going to be a lot of little boats all a'sailing-o on Sunday at about mid-day. Should be a pretty sight, and lots of scraps. Well done Spiddal Dinghy Sailng Club.

Hello Jenny, Just wondering if, with the start of the winter, you know of any winter activities that would like some form of photographic record much in the same way as the building of the dinghy last year> I do not know if there are to be any Pastime Chonnamara projects this year or not as a result of the funding cuts but there must be something going on.

Well swipe one of my tail-feathers!!!! I see – well I don’t see, and that is the problem. There was a time when a fellow could have a quiet chat with his friends about the village about this, that and the next thing and spread all sorts of salacious (??) gossip about all sorts of things. It HAS ALL GONE – well, at least, I can’t find it but than I am a bit of a scatter brain. If I could find Spiddal Hound again and his friends perhaps we could get back in business – even if no-one else is in anyway interested in what is really going on. I think that Lenniman has censored the rumour mill – well true stories really – to see if he can find anyway of getting more scraps.

Well I know where to ask for information. Ask An Glór about it, she seems to know things. Maybe it is old hat or whatever they say or just not really what this nestsight is all about. Did I really say that??? Truly?? If it helps, Glór, it was a sort of scruffy diary, I think.

Grf. Good to see you are back – I hear you and your friends most evenings at the church at sundown. You make a lot of noise – on the other paw I am pretty quiet as I go about my business sniffing out this and that. So my friend, I have a couple of questions for you (and any other sight views).

Do you really think that the denizens of our village are the slightest bit interested in your and my ramblings? Look what happened last year –not a lot if we are honest, friend. Perhaps it is best that our diary is lost. I know that there is a lot going on but these humans are being a bit tight lipped about it lest anyone gets to know. Funny that they were all arguing about Liosbaun, can’t think why. Now it seems to be Mana and the greens. Is that some kind of vegetable food? Did not see any at the market? – say didn’t that jolly up the village. Lots of scraps there. Pity we can’t get some more co-respondents (a big word I read somewhere last week) to join our natter. There must be some in the outlying bits. Perhaps they are shy or want to keep everything to themselves in case we all move.

Perhaps we had better ask An Glór what she thinks. Question is anglor like ancow – or is that something totally different?

Bye

Well, Hound, you may be right about nobody being interested but we have been telling the news for aeons – that is a long time, new word for today – and nobody has complained. Could be of course that noone knows what we are saying – bit like those politicians – or is it politican’ts? Do you think that it could be that those humans are shy about using their own monikers on the web pages – quite unlike us of course – except perhaps that I am just rook and not rook number 533a and easily identifiable? I mean that Scott whatever really is sticking his neck out isn’t he – or is he? Wot does he look like so I can have a chat.

Tell me, what were all the bonfires and flags for the other day??? Did some people locally do something great, good clever and outstanding? I think they did and believe I heard something about under 15 (what is that?) and championships but I might be wrong – there was a lot of traffic at the time. If they did WELL DONE THEM – and those who support them!!! Good on ye.

Say, have you noticed how clean, tidy and good smelling the Church is these days? Always a pleasure to go in there for a quiet private moment. Incidentally haven't seen Churchmouse recently, have yu?

BB is open today – maybe see you there or thereabouts.

Spiddal Hound
Cant help wondering meself why people seem not to be interested in their web site – or sight if there are some of those photo things – thinks did anyone get any snaps of the weekend festivities with the Champeens, would that not be great now? A record of their achievement and their appreciation dancing in the streets and all – wherever did you see the like except for celebrations.

We need to spread the word, don’t we that this is the SPIDDAL WEBSITE. It has been created for US by anglór for our edification and amusement. No doubt if we abuse it we will have our wings and paws slapped and the comment demolished. WE need to give some glorious support don’t we. What do you say, we try and encourage one human a week to take an interest.

How do we provoke a response? Did you hear the rumour about the new road…….?

Did you hear the rumour that the public toilets ( if that is what they are) are going to be replaced by receptacles and rolls of newspaper at strategic points around the village? You are studier of things poo, where do you think these should be sighted?

Well, Hound, there really does seem to be absolutely no reaction from anyone or anything does there????? Think I’ll keep me pearls to meself and my likes for now. I am sure you will understand but us crows do like a bit of craic and we get it where we can and seek not to intrude (unless there is food involved, of course.) Should you see Glasóg please would you pass the word. Always glad to hear from you anytime, of course.
Away now…
